My practice explores materials and utilitarian basketry, pushing boundaries of the vernacular. Living on four continents over twenty five years has been integral to my creativity. I learnt the craft of basketry during ten years in the Pacific Northwest, learning traditional weaving skills required to produce functional domestic baskets. I followed the MA Textiles course at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, graduating in 2023. The degree shifted my focus and my research asked if traditional craft skills can inspire contemporary forms.

Nature’s influence is reflected in colours and structures I work intuitively with, weaving natural, upcycled and foraged fibres to create exploratory configurations.
